Resistance to many antibiotics is caused by bacterial enzyme, which destroys the antibiotic before it can act on the pathogens. The Sulbactam in Z+ inj. anticipates this defense mechanism by blocking the beta lactamase enzymes, thus rendering the organisms sensitive to Ceftriaxone’s rapid bactericidal effect.
It produces an antibiotic agent of broad spectrum activity with wide applications. Both Sulbactam and Ceftriaxone have low levels of serum binding (about 70% remain free in the serum), ensuring maximum availability in the body.
